Who's Your Daddy?
To protect against fraud, I won't post the whole pedigree on these pages, but I have copies of both Max's and Ginger's certified pedigrees, and both their parents, to see when you visit, and to take at the time you purchase your puppy.
Ginger Canyon Storm
Ginger's lineage on her sire's side is very strong Copper Canyon. Her Sire's pedigree papers show Copper Canyon Caligari (later Champion Caligari) in several places. According to Jeanne Joy Hartnagle, in her book All About Aussies, in 1978, Champion Copper Canyon Caligari was chosen as the ideal example of the Australian Shepherd standard.
I believe Copper Canyon was a primary foundation for the Australian Shepherd, as the name appears many times in Hartnagle's book. The goal was to achieve good solid working dogs with good solid conformation. In the Australian Shepherd, good conformation is directly related to how well the dog is suited to its job: herding stock and being a good all around farm dog.
The kennel names of Heatherhill, Fireslide, Fairoaks, and Windsong also appear on Ginger's sire's papers.
There appears to be some judicious line breeding here, in which the breeders work to fix desirable traits and types in their dogs.
On her dam's side, Ginger appears to have a strong working dog background. I see kennel names of Brigadoon, Heatherhill, Kaitaia and Tri-Ivory, all foundation Kennels, mixed in with names that one might give a herding dog, like Dusty, Bronco, Hado-Bar, Ruff-Rider, El Rojo.
Emperador Maximilliano
On his dam's side, Max is also Copper Canyon. Max's grandfather and Ginger's father are the same dog: Checkers Copper Canyon Calivari. So he is also Copper Canyon on that side. On his mother's side are also the kennel names of Heatherhill, Freya, and Leland.
On his sire's side, Max's great grandfather is Champion My Main Man of Heatherhill. His grandfather is Champion Starswept Untouchable at Hisaw.
Brigadoon, Aqua Dulce, and Parkhill are also kennel names on Max's pedigree.
Max's father also appears to have some line breeding.
So on both sides, this would account for the fact that Max was able to produce 4 pups that looked almost exactly like him, and Ginger gave four that looked a lot like her!
If the colors are anything to judge by, I would say that they have also managed to pass along their tremendous instincts and fantastic intelligence. In the right homes, these puppies have a lot to offer.
